The Bible says ALL Men are sinners and we have all fallen short of the glory of God and all our "righteousness" is as filthy rags. That mans hearts are continuously evil. If all our righteousness is filthy how then can we earn our way to heaven? WE CANNOT! God knew that we could never atone for our own sins and we could never be perfect enough to "work" our way into heaven. So He sent His only begotten Son Jesus Christ to pay our debts with his life that that whomsoever believes on Him shall have eternal life. Those that do not will have eternal damnation.

The gift of salvation is FREE ! All you have to do is accept it! Accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and savior, Repent of your sins, confess that Jesus is the Son of God and make Him king of your heart, soul and world.
